Chelsea Handler to host 2025 Critics Choice Awards for THIRD consecutive year
The Critics Choice Awards and Chelsea Handler both return to E! for next year’s event.
The annual awards ceremony, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2025, will air on the E! network for the first time since 2007.
Plus, it’s always entertaining Practitioner will helm the milestone event, which will take place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, after hosting the show for the past two years.
“It’s even more exciting to return for a third year to host the Critics Choice Awards knowing that it is now on E! will air,” Handler said in a statement. “It feels like I’m returning to my hometown.”
While the comedian served up all the gags and gags for the most recent show in January, she also delivered a fashion show extravaganza by donning three different dresses in yellow, green and black.

Handler, 49, long called the E! network at home as host of the talk show Chelsea Lately for seven seasons from 2007 to 2014.
She also did three more seasons of the spin-off After Lately, from 2011 to 2013, along with one season of The Chelsea Handler Show in 2006.
The annual awards show, which honors the best film achievements and is selected by the American-Canadian Critics Choice Association, returns to E! after an 18-year hiatus by the time of the event.
“With the incredible Chelsea Handler returning as our host, we know this special 30th anniversary show will be our biggest and best yet,” said Joey Berlin, CEO of the Critics Choice Association, in a report from the E! network.

The broadcast of the ceremony moved to E! for the sixth installment, which was from 2001 and lasted for four years, until 2004, before moving to The WB for two years, before returning to E! for one year.

Oppenheimer, and its stars Robert Downey Jr. and Cillian Murphy, were the big winners of the 2024 Critics Choice Awards, taking home eight trophies, including Best Picture, Best Director (Christopher Nolan) and Best Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr.).

The Critics Choice Association will announce this year’s nominees for Best Television on December 5 at 12pm ET/9am PT, while film nominations will be made public a week later on December 12 at 12pm ET/9am PT.
The 30th anniversary show on E! will get an earlier start and begin with an hour-long red carpet pre-show before the ceremony begins.
The three-hour 2025 Critics Choice Awards ceremony will air live on Sunday, January 12 from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, beginning at 7:00 PM ET/4:00 PM PT on the E! network.
The film will also be available for streaming on Peacock the next day, on January 13.
