Chelsea forward Kai Havertz ‘agrees personal terms with Arsenal and is keen on a move to the club’

Kai Havertz has reportedly agreed personal terms with Arsenal ahead of a potential move to the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta has long been an admirer of the Arsenal striker and a deal has been struck between the player and the Gunners, according to a tweet by Fabrizio Romano.

Havertz is currently on international duty with Germany and played the full 90 minutes as Hansi Flick’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Poland in a friendly on Friday.

While a fee has yet to be agreed between the two clubs, Arsenal would be confident the deal will cross the line after the international break.

The Gunners reportedly opened talks earlier this week with a £60 million valuation of the 24-year-old and offered a wage package said to be in the region of £200,000 a week.

However, Chelsea would play hard on their valuation of the striker and want a minimum of £70 million for Havertz, whose current contract at Stamford Bridge expires in 2025.

Havertz joined from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020, signing a five-year contract with the west London club beating competition from the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid for the prospect’s signature.

Despite scoring just four league goals in 27 appearances during his first campaign with the club, Havertz was the hero in the club’s 2021 Champions League Final against Man City, scoring the only goal of the game as the side of Thomas Tuchel was crowned champion of Europe.

Havertz, who played regularly under Graham Potter, a knee injury towards the end of last season limited Havertz’s involvement as Chelsea put an abysmal end to an all-round disappointing season as Frank Lampard made a temporary return to Stamford Bridge.
