Former Chelsea striker Timo Werner could be in for a shock return to the Premier League in January after RB Leipzig announced he could leave the club in the winter window.
After excelling for Leipzig during his first spell at the club, Werner sealed a £47million move to Stamford Bridge in 2020.
However, he endured a torrid time in west London, scoring just ten goals in 56 Premier League games and was later sent back to Leipzig as Chelsea cut losses on the German striker last year.
Leipzig managed to bring him back for just £25 million and despite a good start to his second spell at the club, Werner fell down the pecking order under manager Marco Rose.
Lois Openda, Benjamin Sesko and Yussuf Poulsen are all ahead of Werner and it now appears he is on his way out, with Leipzig sporting director Rouven Schroder revealing they will look at offers for the 27-year-old in the new year listen.

In an interview with German news channel Spox, Schroder revealed: ‘We look carefully at our selection, and we want players who have something different in mind.
‘Those are the types of players we will choose. Timo is going through a difficult period and we support him. Life is not always sunshine.
‘If he feels like he wants to do something different, then we’ll discuss that. He is part of our team and has to compete for places.’
After his dismal spell at Chelsea, Newcastle wanted to bring the German to the North East but were deterred by his massive £270,000-a-week wages, allowing Leipzig to swoop in and re-sign him last year.

However, reports claimed that Werner agreed to take a pay cut to return to Leipzig on around £165,000 a week and that his lower wages and price tag could see the Magpies get back in if Eddie Howe decides to drop interest in the German international to be renewed.
Werner has also been linked with a move to Italy, with Juventus a potential destination.
In his first season at Leipzig, Werner scored 16 goals in 40 games in all competitions, but he has struggled to make an impact this season, scoring just twice in 13 games.
