‘He was the problem’: Chelsea fans rejoice at Graham Potter’s sacking following fiendish latest home loss as six-month reign tagged ‘DISCLAIOUS’
Chelsea supporters rejoiced on social media after it was announced that the club had parted ways with Graham Potter.
After a devilish streak that stretched from before the World Cup until early spring, Chelsea put together a series of strong performances that paid off positively, including a win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
However, two disappointing results on either side of the international break – a draw at home to Everton and a loss on Saturday to Aston Villa – ended Potter’s reign after just six months in charge.
The mood among supporters on social media appeared to be positive, with one calling his time at the club “embarrassing”.
“Graham Potter can now walk away with his lackluster mentality and methods,” they wrote. “At least he has earned his pension as payment for his brief and embarrassing spell as Chelsea manager.”
Another supporter claimed they had ‘prayed’ for the former Brighton manager to be sacked.
While the mood among most supporters was one of joy as Potter failed to really connect with them during his time, some were more circumspect about Chelsea’s decision to part ways with the 47-year-old.
Potter was always doomed at Chelsea. I walked into a club where the owner was spending their money left right and center on players they absolutely did not need,” they wrote.
“He always needed time to build the team he wanted, and he was never going to be able to do it with that owner.”
Others simply let out their joy, with one in particular stating: ‘Finally, we are free!’
Another asked social media users to “like” his tweet if it was the “best news of the month” for them. The tweet had received 308 likes in a very short time.
