England fans responded to the announcement of Lee Carsley’s second selection with a mixture of reviews, while Chelsea supporters were furious that Jadon Sancho had not been selected, while others were impressed by the firm choices made by the interim head coach.
Carsley – who has been tipped to take the Three Lions job permanently – named his second squad for the upcoming Nations League matches against Greece and Finland on Thursday.
The Three Lions have changed a lot from their Euro 2024 failure with the announcement of Carsley’s first selection since becoming Gareth Southgate’s interim successor, and he has made bolder decisions with his second selection.
Eberechi Eze and Harry Maguire are the most notable dropouts, with the Manchester United defender becoming a casualty of the national team after Erik ten Hag had his playing time reduced.
Meanwhile, Eze was dropped from the national team squad due to early-season attacking talent problems in a Crystal Palace team that finds itself in the Premier League relegation zone.
