Chelsea have officially confirmed their second signing of the day in young Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos, having announced David Datro Fofana today.

The 18-year-old wunderkind was announced yesterday afternoon by his Brazilian club Vasco da Gama to join the Blues for £18 million.

Santos becomes the third signing of the January transfer window for Graham Potter’s side after completing deals for Fofana and Benoit Badiashile already in the first week.

The 18-year-old becomes the third signing of the January transfer window for Graham Potter’s side.

The three additions show an intent to build for the future at Stamford Bridge, especially with long-term contracts.

Santos is seen as a future replacement for the veteran Blues midfielder who includes the likes of N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic.

Despite being just 18 years old, Santos has been capped by Brazil’s under-20 team and is considered one of his country’s most promising midfielders.

On signing for Chelsea, Santos said: ‘It’s a very big opportunity for me. This is a big club that plays in big competitions like the Premier League, so I’m very excited.

“The players here are very good and I am very happy to be here.”

Chelsea boss Potter will be keen to add more rising stars after a successful start to the January transfer window, having signed Badiashile and Fofana and added talents like Carney Chukwuemeka earlier this year.

The former Brighton manager is also reportedly chasing his former club for midfielder Moisés Caicedo after his impressive performances for Ecuador in the World Cup, but he will also have to battle interest from Liverpool.

The Blues are also considering moves for Atletico Madrid striker Joao Félix and Shakthar Donestk winger Mykhailo Mudryk.
