Chelsea have signed Jadon Sancho on a season-long loan from Manchester United.

The deal will see Sancho move to Stamford Bridge, with the Blues committing to signing him next summer for £23million, subject to a performance-related bonus.

Sancho replaces Sterling, who leaves for Arsenal after the former Borussia Dortmund star fell out of favour with head coach Erik ten Hag following a well-publicised spat last season.

Mail Sport previously reported that the two clubs were in talks over a surprise swap deal between Sancho and his former England team-mate Raheem Sterling, who was unexpectedly dropped from Chelsea’s squad ahead of the start of the Premier League.

However, Sterling left Chelsea to join Premier League rivals Arsenal on loan.

After impressive performances during his first spell at Borussia Dortmund and breaking into the England national team, United paid £73million to bring Sancho to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021.

However, under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ten Hag, the winger has failed to consistently replicate the performances that made him so popular before his switch to the Premier League.

After the Dutchman was excluded from United last season following a public spat, Sancho returned to Dortmund on loan for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

Back in the Bundesliga, the winger showed his potential again, making 21 appearances in all competitions as Edin Terzic’s team reached the Champions League final.
