Once the deal is officially confirmed, the Spaniard will become Chelsea’s second signing of the summer after Tosin Adarabioyo joined on a free transfer from Fulham.

A product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, Guiu enjoyed his breakthrough campaign with the Catalan club last season.

After being benched against Granada in October, Guiu made his first-team debut the following week, coming on as a substitute in the closing stages of the match against Athletic Bilbao.

With the game level at 0–0, Guiu latched onto a pass on the edge of the penalty area and beat goalkeeper Unai Simon with a low shot after just his second touch of the ball, scoring the winner just 33 seconds after being introduced.

At 17 years and 291 days, Guiu became the youngest player to score for Barcelona on his LaLiga debut this century.

Guiu made a total of eight appearances in all competitions for Barcelona’s first team last season, including a Champions League group stage defeat to Royal Antwerp in December.
