Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly has suggested the Premier League should introduce an all-star North-on-South game to raise money for the English football pyramid.
The American co-owner of the Blues has also called for a “four-team tournament” at the bottom of the table to decide who goes down at the end of the season, rather than outright relegation for three teams.
Boehly, who led a consortium to complete a £4.25bn takeover of Chelsea in May, claimed the Premier League could learn a lot from American sport to generate more revenue.

It would see the top Premier League stars go head-to-head in an exhibition game, which Boehly says would raise money for the English football pyramid
In a lengthy interview at the SALT conference in New York, the 48-year-old said: “I hope the Premier League learns a bit of a lesson from American sport and really starts figuring it out: ‘Why don’t I do a tournament? with the bottom four teams? Why isn’t there an all-star game?”
“You could play a North-South all-star game in the Premier League and very easily fund everything the pyramid needs. Everyone likes the idea of more revenue for the League.”

His idea of an All-star Premier League game would probably pit the best and most notable players against teams in the north of England, such as Liverpool and both clubs in Manchester, against the majority of London’s clubs in the south.
He also admitted he doesn’t say a “hard no” when asked about the European Super League.
Boehly also revealed that Tuchel was fired for not sharing the new owner’s vision for the club.

He added: “Tuchel is clearly extremely talented and someone who had great success at Chelsea.
“Our vision for the club was to find a manager who really wanted to work with us. The reality was that we weren’t sure Thomas saw it the way we saw it.
“We just didn’t have a shared vision for the future. It wasn’t a decision made because of a single win or a loss.”
