Maresca would like to carefully guide the individual given his injury history.
According to L’EquipeMaresca has agreed to follow Chelsea’s policy of playing Wesley Fofana only once a week until January.

Chelsea are keen to ensure that Wesley Fofana is not outplayed given his injury history
Fofana did not play at all last season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in pre-season.
He also missed a significant portion of the 2022-2023 season due to a knee problem.
This season, Fofana has started all seven of Chelsea’s Premier League games so far, with the match against West Ham being the only match in which he did not play 90 minutes.
However, Fofana has not yet played in the Europa Conference League or the Carabao Cup this season.

Fofana has been suspended for the match against Liverpool on October 20 after collecting five yellow cards in the Premier League this season.
Chelsea are currently in fourth place in the Premier League, four points behind leaders Liverpool.
Chelsea’s next match after that match is away against Panathinaikos in the Europa Conference League.
Fofana is currently in the France squad and was an unused substitute in the 4-1 away win against Israel.
