Both Chelsea and Bournemouth have been fined £25,000 each by the English Football Association for picking up six or more cards in their record-breaking Premier League clash on Saturday night.
Chelsea were shown eight yellow cards to the opposition’s six as referee Anthony Taylor angered both sets of fans by displaying such an addiction to soft warnings at the Vitality Stadium.
The total of 14 yellow cards was a new record for a Premier League match. And that number doesn’t even include the other cards shown to the coaching staff, including Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca.
Joao Felix was the final player to be booked in the 91st minute for catching Alex Scott as he passed his opponent. The English Football Association will now punish both clubs for their misconduct.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola refused to comment on Taylor’s performance after the match
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola refused to discuss Taylor’s performance afterwards, possibly fearing further punishment if he overstepped the mark.
But Iraola did say: ‘There were 14 fairly easy first yellow cards and the second yellow cards were not so easy. But I’m not going to focus on the referee. That has never worked, so today I’m not going to focus on the referee.’
