Chelsea and Atletico Madrid open talks over shock return to Stamford Bridge for Joao Felix as £34.5m Samu Omorodion deal hits the buffers at the 11th hour

Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have opened talks over a deal for Joao Felix after Sami Omorodion’s move to Stamford Bridge fell through tonight.

Omorodion was expected to complete his £34.5million move on a seven-year deal with an option for a further year after he leaves for London. However, negotiations have stalled and although both parties have attempted to find a solution, the transfer looks set to fall through tonight.

Atletico wanted to sell Omorodion to compensate for their deals for Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher and Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez. Those deals are there, but Atletico has to sell.

Talks are now re-emerging over Joao Felix, who previously spent time on loan at Chelsea but was in the sights of Aston Villa.
