Check out Cyberpunk 2077’s latest patch for a secret TTRPG surprise
In a secret pre-holiday update for Cyberpunk 2077Developer CD Projekt Red has added a small tabletop gift. A spokesperson for Cyberpunk publisher R. Tassorian Games told Polygon that “every single person owns it Cyberpunk 2077 and can now find their bonus content folder Cyberpunk RED: Easy mode there, of course for free.”
Without mentioning, Cyberpunk 2077‘s update 2.2 quietly provided the quick start guide to the tabletop role-playing game. Easy Mode has abbreviated rules and an introductory mission to quickly get new players comfortable using dice pools instead of controllers and keyboards. In the quick start, players can act as one of five pre-generated characters: the charismatic Rockerboy, the deadly Solo, the inventive Tech, the life-saving Medtech and the tough Media. While the guide includes a brief dive into the history and landscape of Night City, fans of the video game should feel well-versed in the prequel world of Cyberpunk RED.
Although the preview was released at Gen Con in 2019, the full version of Cyberpunk RED originally released alongside Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020. The table game is the latest edition of the original Cyberpunk 2020 RPG (released 1989). The franchise explores the gritty science fiction of a final-stage capitalist techno-future where, according to the game’s description, “corporations control the world from their skyscraper fortresses.” Maybe a little on the nose. takes place in 2045, Cyberpunk RED takes place halfway between the events of Cyberpunk 2020 And Cyberpunk 2077.
Polygon has confirmed that the gift is available to PC users. To check your copy of the PDF on PC, navigate to “C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappsmusicCyberpunk 2077 Bonus Content.” Polygon has not been able to verify how to get the PDF on Xbox or PlayStation, although the spokesperson said this “should have been” confirmed for those platforms as well.
