Check her out! Duchess of Edinburgh is stylish in a statement blazer as she attends agricultural show in Yorkshire

The Duchess of Edinburgh looked sophisticated in a plaid blazer as she attended the Driffield Society Agricultural Show today.

Sophie, 58, visited the Driffield Showground in Yorkshire for one of the country’s most prominent agricultural shows.

The Royal Family – who are patrons of the Association of Show and Agricultural Organizations – stepped out for a day of fun on the occasion, celebrating its 147th event.

Mother-of-two Sophie, dressed in a fitted tweed blazer that perfectly matched the day’s outing, was all smiles as she greeted the event organisers.

She paired the statement jacket with a loose-fitting black shirt with delicate gold button embellishments.

The royal family decided to enrich her ensemble with a simple necklace and miniature gold earrings, adding a feminine touch to the outfit.

Sophie kept her hair clipped back for the busy day in a classic round hair clip. A bronzed smokey eye completed her make-up look, paired with sophisticated dusky pink lipstick.

The Duchess met Mr Richard Dee of the Driffield Show Committee at the Agricultural Society Show. The pair shook hands before enjoying some light-hearted conversation.

During the day, Sophie also spoke to key contributors to the show, including Alan Glover, a representative of the Leicester Long Wools Sheep Organization.

The busy day had a slew of fun activities for visitors to enjoy, including a fun dog show, horticulture section, and dancing diggers.

Farming is one of the many causes Sophie is passionate about and she has also been a patron of the Border Union Agricultural Society since 2012.

In addition, Sophie is also a patron of The Addington Fund, a charity that helps distressed farmers, and visited a dairy farm in Gloucestershire earlier this year.

In recent years she has also contributed to the ‘Campaign for Wool’ campaign, which promotes the use of British wool in the fashion industry and was spearheaded by her brother-in-law King Charles.

The Duchess has been busy these past few days as last night she attended a reception to mark the 400th anniversary of the collective publication of William Shakespeare’s plays.

Sophie appeared as elegant as ever in a sophisticated blue outfit while attending the event hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle in Berkshire.

Charles, 74, and Camilla, 76, were joined by the Duchess of Edinburgh, 58, and the Duchess of Gloucester, 77, at the Berkshire residence as they mingled with a variety of famous faces, from Helena Bonham Carter to Dame Judi Dench.

British A-listers Vanessa Redgrave, Joely Richardson and David Oyelowo also attended the occasion, where actors performed excerpts from Julius Caesar and The Tempest.

It was to Shakespeare to whom Charles turned in his first speech as king, the day after his mother Queen Elizabeth II died, quoting from Hamlet to conclude his homage to her devotion and duty: “May flights of angels bring you to your rest to sing. ‘

Charles’ interest in Shakespeare dates back to boarding school when he played the title role in Macbeth in 1965.
