Cheaters tricked Genshin Impact fans into thinking there was a game-breaking glitch

Genshin impact players no longer have to worry about who they can or cannot safely play co-op with.

Last weekend, viral videos showing a potentially groundbreaking bug in co-op mode sparked panic Genshin impact players and caused widespread panic in the community. Developers assured players that it is not a glitch that anyone can use, but a plugin that malicious actors used to remove items from the game. The developers said the “relevant issues” had been resolved and players could continue playing as they normally would on Monday.

In the videos showing the supposed glitch, a person like Kaveh or Nahida played and used each character’s elemental ability. Once a player used this attack, an object was permanently removed from play. There were seemingly no limitations to the bug, so someone could use Kaveh’s ability to remove necessary game elements, such as characters giving out quests or key landmarks like Irminsul trees within domains.

there is a bug recently found by the cn community that goes around bilibili. it’s a kaveh bug + 3rd party software that causes kaveh to remove inagme objects/files (they said it contains waypoints, domain trees, etc). it is advised not to play random coops until this is fixed!! #genshinimpact #genshin #kaveh #animal

The developers now say that the images showed no bug. The players in the videos used a plugin that could tamper with the game data and remove items. However, that didn’t stop the videos from spreading in the time before the developers addressed the issue.

Within days, players were sharing clips of the plugin and fans were watching clips of Kaveh removing objects to the tune of hundreds of thousands of views. There was a lot of misinformation and confusion in the community. While some videos claimed the footage was likely a hoax, others shared videos warning others players to avoid co-op mode. And while some fans weren’t sure of the bug’s validity, that didn’t stop the Kaveh jokes from becoming a meme in the community.

Hoyoverse seems to be aggressively tracking down the source of the problem. According to the long statement sharing on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, the developers confirmed that the videos were intended to scare players. According to Hoyoverse’s statement, the plugin’s developers and users posted content disguising themselves as victims to confuse other players and “incite panic.”

“To maintain fair play and protect Travelers’ rights, we have banned accounts using these plug-ins and will take legal action against developers, users, and distributors of such plug-ins,” the statement said.

If anyone is still having problems in Genshin impactthe developers are urging players to get in touch Hoyoverse Customer Support.
