ChatGPT trick lets you integrate the AI bot into any iPhone app

>

It seems there’s little ChatGPT can’t do.

The artificial intelligence platform that has taken the world by storm has helped people write work reports, make diet plans and even apply for jobs.

Better yet, there’s now a way to integrate the bot into any iPhone app – and here’s how.

The Shortcut, which is free for anyone as long as they set up an OpenAI pay-as-you-go billing plan, supports conversation mode so you can use ChatGPT as you would on a computer.

It essentially lets you ask ChatGPT questions from an input box on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, with answers then returned by ChatGPT and displayed in an alert on your device.

New Trick: You can now integrate ChatGPT into any iPhone app by using a new shortcut. This supports conversation mode, so you can use ChatGPT as you would on a computer

‘You can ask whatever you want, wait a few seconds and the assistant will answer you. S-GPT supports text only and there are no question length limits” said developer Federico Viticciwho explained why he chose to take the shortcut.

HOW TO TRY S-GPT YOURSELF

The S-GPT shortcut essentially lets you ask ChatGPT questions from an input box on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, with answers then returned by ChatGPT and displayed in an alert on your device.

It can be used with the existing ChatGPT 3.5 model or ChatGPT 4 if a user has access to it.

Here’s what to do:

  • Create an OpenAI account
  • Make sure you’ve set up billing with pay-as-you-go
  • Go to the API Keys page
  • Create a new secret key for your account and copy it
  • When you go to set up S-GPT, you will be prompted to paste your API key
  • You’re ready to go
  • Ask S-GPT questions the same way you would use ChatGPT

An example of how S-GPT can be used is to create a playlist of certain artists.

A user just needs to give it a command, which is interpreted by ChatGPT and then passed back to S-GPT to name the playlist.

Once this is done, the playlist will appear in the Apple Music app.

Spoiler alert: It wasn’t just because he needed help writing poems on his phone.

Viticci said he wanted to give Apple users the same access to ChatGPT as people on Windows devices.

The AI bot has an affiliation with Microsoft and has been rolled out in a new version of the tech giant’s Bing search engine.

This similarity means that those on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS probably won’t always be able to access ChatGPT in the same way, without Viticci’s S-GPT (which stands for Shortcuts-GPT).

He said he wanted to bridge the gap between Apple and ChatGPT, just as Microsoft has done.

I know this is a lofty goal, and there’s only so much I can do with Shortcuts, but I look at how Microsoft is and I’m jealous that the same isn’t true on Apple’s platforms (and probably never will be) ),’ added Viticci.

His idea uses Open AI’s developer API, which comes at a small price and therefore anyone who wants to use the hack must have access to the pay-as-you-go billing.

It can be used with the existing ChatGPT 3.5 model or ChatGPT 4 if a user has access to it.

The shortcut allows people to ask questions questions and follow-up answers in the same ‘session’, just like on a computer, while also retains previous conversations and lets a user view every conversation they’ve had as a single transcript.

“I really think S-GPT, from a technical perspective, is my best and most advanced work to date,” said Viticci.

The ability to have a back-and-forth conversation has some great advantages over using, say, Siri for certain tasks.

“Unlike other ChatGPT shortcuts, your conversations are only sent to the OpenAI API: by default, the shortcut keeps a log or cache of your chats unless you manually ask it to export a transcript.”

He added: ‘S-GPT is designed to provide users with concise and clear answers that can be read in just seconds.

“I did this because S-GPT can be used as a shortcut launched from the Shortcuts app, a home screen icon or widget, or a shortcut that runs in Siri.”

FIVE THINGS CHATGPT CANNOT DO

MailOnline looks at five functions that ChatGPT cannot perform, from playing the popular online game Wordle to remembering one’s own name.

It also can’t advise on prescription drugs or write accurate news articles – though some supporters say it will only be a while before it can do the latter.
