The issues first occurred at 7 a.m. Eastern time, with some customers venting their frustrations on social media.

The issue appears to be affecting those who send money through the Zelle payment transfer app.

One Twitter user wrote, “Not @Chase sending all my Zelles from yesterday TWICE. Nearly had a heart attack. I know this will be resolved, but still.’

Another said, “I don’t like to tell people that they are doing a system update, which results in a failure of DOUBLE Zelle transactions.

“The goddamn heart attack I just had, thinking my account was really overdrawn by hundreds of dollars. Was an email too much to ask?’

A third said, “@Chase Bill pays double payments this morning! Customer service wait times are over 2 hours and there is no resolution to this account/Zelle issue.

“WTH CHASE BANK.”

Figures from Downdetector show that the number of outages peaked between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. yesterday.

But from 8 o’clock this morning the complaints increased again.
