Country singer Charly Reynolds says she had surgery on her vocal cords after ‘she was having trouble singing’
Country singer Charly Reynolds says she had to undergo surgery on her vocal cords.
The 23-year-old singer-songwriter said People on Thursday that he gradually began to notice that he had problems with his vocal cords last spring.
“All of a sudden, I was having trouble singing,” the Florida native said. ‘But I didn’t stop singing. I just thought she was singing too much. She was assuming too much. Maybe she was just tired.
Reynolds, whose songs include Rodeo and Tonight In Texas, said that four months later, she couldn’t sing for more than half an hour without losing her voice.
Reynolds, who is working on an EP to be released this year, said she subsequently visited a doctor who diagnosed her.

“My vocal cords were very swollen and bleeding and bloody,” Reynolds said.
The country music artist said doctors told her to take a month off from singing, but improvement continued to elude her.
“It was the complete opposite of what you expected to see,” he said.
Reynolds said that at the end of the year he decided to have surgery after he said “scar tissue had developed on” his vocal cords.
‘I decided to do the surgery now instead of waiting five years, you know?’ said Reynolds, who underwent the procedure at Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center in December.
Reynolds said she is currently undergoing vocal therapy and that doctors expect her to be cleared to sing in shows “in two months or so.”
The interpreter has a new song called Out of My Hands, which she said has a certain irony with her situation in mind.
“Obviously, the title Out of My Hands is very appropriate at this point because this whole situation has been out of my hands,” said Reynolds, who wrote the song with Zachary Manno and Emma Lynn White.

Reynolds said the events of the past year led her to trust in faith.
“I felt, throughout this process, that it became something where I feel like God is teaching me to let go of control,” Reynolds said. “I’ve always liked to plan and have everything perfect and planned, but this is a case where I’m not in control.”
Reynolds said of his new single: “I always fall in love with the melodies of the songs. That’s really what I fall in love with in every song: that and the steel guitar!
She said that the reason she released the single as a demo was because she “loved everything about the original” the day she recorded it in the studio.
“I wanted to just keep it the way it was and take it back to my audience and hope they can relate the way they want to,” he said. ‘I know I did.’
