The new season of RuPaul's Drag Race has assembled an all-star lineup for guest judge season 16, including Charlize, Becky G and Buffy, Vampire Slayer alum Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Other guest judges scheduled to appear during the season include Kaia Gerber, Kelsea Ballerini, Kyra Sedgwick, Law Roach, Mayan Lopez and Ronan Farrow.

RuPaul's Drag Race features regular judges Michelle Visage, Carson Kressley, Ross Mathews and Ts Madison for its 16th season.

Fourteen contestants will compete for the title of 'America's Next Drag Superstar' and a cash prize of $200,000.

The guest appearance was certainly welcomed by Charlize, as it comes just weeks after she opened up about a childhood trauma.

Charlize covered the City & Country November 2023 Tenth annual issue of philanthropy, which recalled the terrifying night her mother shot and killed her drunken, gun-wielding father in front of her.

When asked if the disturbing moment had inspired her commitment to combating violence against women. she responded, “I would say this: It's an easy correlation to make.

“But I think it's much more complicated than just one night of trauma in your life.

“With or without that, gender-based violence is a real threat in South Africa and globally. It's hard not to be aware of these things just because you're a woman.”

After an investigation, it was legally determined that the 1991 shooting was an act of self-defense, and her mother was not charged.

She also reflected on growing up in South Africa during the apartheid era and the profound impact of AIDS on the community.

“I was about ten years old and the people around me were terrified and terrified. We now know it was HIV and AIDS, but not many people had that information at the time.

'It has left an impression on me from an early age that is always difficult to shake.'

'Growing up in a country under apartheid and getting AIDS. Those things really scarred me. I would almost like to say more than just that one night in my life.'

Charlize has previously spoken about the harrowing incident when her father was shot in front of her during a shooting 2019 NPR interview.

“My father was so drunk he shouldn't have walked when he came into the house with a gun,” she recalls.

'My mother and I were in my bedroom leaning against the door because he was trying to push through the door.

She continued: So we were both leaning against the door from the inside, so he couldn't get through. He stepped back and shot through the door three times.

“None of the bullets ever hit us, which is just a miracle,” Charlize said, before adding that her mother shot her father.

“But in self-defense, she ended the threat.”
