Charlize Theron has told fans that The Old Guard 2 is coming out “soon.”
The 48-year-old star has reassured fans that the sequel has “finally” picked up again, following delays including “a lot of changes” Netflix is going through.
During her speech at the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project Block Party, she said Variety: ‘We were kind of stuck in it and our post-production got shut down after five weeks.
“Netflix has gone through quite a change. They’ve gone through a lot of changes, and I totally understand that,” she noted.
Theron is “really excited” about the upcoming film, which wrapped filming about two years ago.

She added: ‘We’ve finally picked it up again and I’m really excited about it.
‘It’s really good. It’s a very important film for us.
“I only wanted to do it if we could make it great. I really love this movie.”
In June 2022, Uma Thurman and Henry Golding joined the cast of the superhero sequel, alongside returning cast members Theron, KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Veronica Ngo, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
Victoria Mahoney will direct the sequel after Gina Prince-Bythewood stepped down.
Theron plays the lead role of warrior Andromache of Scythia and the story is once again based on the graphic novel series by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez.
The first film was about a team of immortal mercenaries on a mission of revenge.
In 2020, Theron admitted that she and other cast members were keen to make a sequel after the film proved popular with audiences on the streaming service.
She said, “We’re still working on it.”
“Let’s take a break for a moment, but since we all really want to do this, I’m sure that when the time is right, we will have the conversation.”
In 2021, she spoke highly of The Old Guard.

When asked last July if there was talk of a sequel, Theron said, “We’re still working on it.”
“Let’s take a break for a moment, but because we all really want to do this, I’m sure when the time is right, we’ll have the conversation,” she added.
