Convicted killer Justin Stein will fight allegations he was in possession of child abuse videos when he faces a 10-day trial in a Sydney court next year.
Stein was found guilty by a jury earlier this year of murdering the nine-year-old daughter of his then partner, Charlise Mutten.
Judge Helen Wilson last month handed Stein a life sentence after it emerged he shot Charlise at his family’s Mount Wilson estate before wrapping her body and dumping it in a barrel near the Colo River.
Months after he was arrested for Charlise’s death in January 2022, Stein, 33, was also charged with two counts of possession of child abuse material.
He is said to have been in possession of videos showing the sexual abuse of children.
There is no claim that the material is related to Charlise Mutten.
Stein was due to appear before a jury from next month, but his lawyers appeared in Penrith District Court on Friday, where they applied to have the trial date released.
The application was not opposed by the Crown prosecutor and Judge Craig Everson gave the case a new trial date of March 17 next year.
