Charlie’s Angels star Jaclyn Smith, 78, reveals if she was ever in ‘competition’ with Farrah Fawcett and Kate Jackson

Jaclyn Smith has detailed which Charlie’s Angels costars Farrah Fawcett and Kate Jackson enjoyed working with.

The 78-year-old said People there was no drama on Wednesday. And they never had cat fights.

“It was just girls having fun. We were like roommates in college. Just independent women coming our way,” said the clothing designer.

“There was a camaraderie of shared history,” she added.

“We crossed that bridge and it changed our lives. It was no longer possible to walk into a supermarket anonymously and this created a special bond for all three of us.’

Smith adds that the women were never competitive.

‘We weren’t [going]”I want this scene, I want that,” she also shared.
Farrah died on June 25, 2009 at the age of 62 after a long, painful battle with cancer. Smith is still close to Jackson.

And Jaclyn loved Farrah like a sister.

“She was a true friend,” Smith told People. “Not a competitive friend, she wished everyone the best.”

The perfume maker added: ‘She was the first to visit me after I had my first child. I could see her joy because she knew this was my dream – to have children – and that dream had come true.”

Smith continues, “But she was also funny. She’d say, ‘Look, your fingers aren’t fat anymore. Now you don’t have to wear napkin rings around it anymore!”

Jaclyn will co-chair the Farrah Fawcett Foundation’s annual gala on October 24, 2024 in Dallas, Texas.

On the 15th anniversary of Farrah’s death, friends took to social media to pay tribute.

Farrah’s good friend Alana Stewart, who was formerly married to rocker Rod Stewart, shared older photos of Farrah on Instagram with a touching note.

‘I remember Farrah… 15 years today since her death, with some of her better and less well-known photos. RIP my dear sister. I think about you every day. #iconic,” she wrote as Melanie Griffith hit the like button.

Smith shared an old clip from their hit TV show.

Smith has spoken People in 2019, about the last time she saw her boyfriend of 40 years.

“She was in pain and couldn’t sit still,” the brunette beauty said. ‘I rubbed her feet, trying to make her feel better. And that relaxed her. We must have talked for three hours about our lives, about our children, about growing up in Texas. The time I ended up spending with Farrah was the best because we valued the friendship.”

Smith also said Farrah was “relentless in her fight.”

Fawcett filmed her battle with cancer for a documentary, even showing off her bald head after chemo and radiation. And she burst into tears when she heard that the tumors in her liver had returned.

“Who would have ever dreamed that this girl, known for the smile, the hair and the glamour, would open the depths of her soul to share with the world?” Smith told People.

The Texas viewer, who was married to Lee Majors and had a long-term relationship with Ryan O’Neal, who died in December 2023, founded The Farrah Fawcett Foundation to raise money for research and education.

When Farrah first told Jaclyn she had cancer, she said the diagnosis shocked her.

“She said, ‘I always thought I was going to get breast cancer or heart disease, but never this,’ and she started crying,” Smith said. “I never saw her cry again after that.”

“She was in pain and couldn't sit still,” Smith said. 'I rubbed her feet, trying to make her feel better. And that relaxed her. We must have talked for three hours about our lives, about our kids, about growing up in Texas.” Farrah in 2004

And their friendship was real: ‘What I remember about Farrah is that, like her, she was an 8-by-10 glossy, the friend who encouraged me, the girl who loved her parents, the girl down the street .

‘Together we shared the ups and downs of life, happiness and sadness. I miss her every day. A lot of people are gone now and that is difficult. I miss them and it’s okay to miss them.’

Smith also discussed the years she spent making Charlie’s Angels with Fawcett.

She said the two, as well as co-star Kate Jackson, had “each other’s backs” on set.

“It was like a frat house, eating together in our trailers,” Jaclyn said.

‘Sometimes we would go shopping on the weekend for what we were going to wear. We worked not only as actresses, but also as friends, and it remained that way for forty years.’

Most people think Farrah was on Charlie’s Angels for all five years, but she left the series after season one to pursue dramatic work.

“When Farrah decided to leave after one season, we all supported her,” Smith said.

“She wasn’t afraid to say, ‘This is what I’m going to do.’ Farrah wanted to be seen as a serious actress. She marched to her own drum. And once she was accepted as an actress, she went back to Playboy and posed at the age of 50. From serious actress to yet another sex symbol. There was never a dull moment.’

Smith also acknowledged that the show made them all.

‘It has changed our lives. We looked a bit like rock stars. When we went to Hawaii for the season opener, we had security guards 24 hours a day. We all went about our business, but the power of Charlie’s Angels helped define who we were and where we went.”
