The incident is said to have occurred while Colin, a former bassist for the band, was house-sitting for a friend in Belgium. It is currently unclear when exactly he died.

Colin was reportedly forced to leave the successful group in 2003 due to substance abuse issues.

Singer Pat Monahan said at the time, “Charlie is a great bass player, but he was in a lot of pain, and the way he dealt with it was very painful for everyone else around him.”

Monahan then allegedly called a band meeting to choose between himself or Colin.

‘They were not happy with the choice. “They were very clear that I was putting them in a very difficult position,” he said at the time.

More recently, Colin had moved to Brussels, where he taught a music masterclass at a conservatory and created music for a film.

Train formed in San Francisco in 1993 and achieved mainstream success with their self-titled debut album in 1998, producing the hit Meet Virginia.

However, they achieved further success with the hit Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me) from the 2001 album of the same name.

The song won two Grammy Awards in 2002 and the album reached double platinum status.

Colin was part of the original lineup consisting of original members Pat Monahan, Rob Hotchkiss, Jimmy Stafford and Scott Underwood.

Train, who is still active, has sold more than 10 million albums and 30 million songs worldwide
