Edward Lawrence Sr. proved that age is just a number when he turned 103 on Sunday and reminisced about his life at a community center in Charleston, South Carolina.

Regarding the advice given above, the former plumber and maintenance worker said, “You will live a long time if you mind your own business.”

Born in Charleston in 1920, Lawrence served as a master plumber and maintenance supervisor for the City of Charleston Housing Authority.

Lawrence basked in the warmth of the blessings of family and friends, who celebrated his remarkable 103rd birthday at the Accabee Community Center in North Charleston, South Carolina.

His family members stepped forward and each took turns recounting fond memories of his long life, while Lawrence, dressed in a cozy plaid shirt and Nike cap, sat at the podium.

The 103-year-old man sat surrounded by balloons, a birthday cake and admiring family and friends, all recognizing his dedication to the community throughout his life.

A family member revealed that he continued to work as a plumber for the Shiloh Seventh-day Adventist Church until he was 99.

At 103 years old, he's still driving,” said a family member, adding that Lawrence still enjoys cooking and doing chores around the house.

In a post on social media, Lawrence's relative, Wilhelmina Tisdale, shared photos of him enjoying his birthday in a backyard and living life to the fullest.
