Charles and the topless yoga guru: A kilt-wearing yogi to host ‘luxury wellness retreat’ as the monarch’s guest at Dumfries House

She has become a social media sensation performing topless yoga poses in a kilt amidst the glorious backdrop of the Scottish Highlands.

Now, yoga teacher Finlay Wilson, nicknamed the ‘Kilted Yogi’, is set to lead the classes by royal appointment.

The 36-year-old, who is an ambassador for the educational charity Prince’s Foundation, will host the first-ever “luxury wellness retreat” at yoga aficionado King Charles’ Dumfries House in East Ayrshire next weekend.

The £500 a head event will see Mr Wilson and his husband Alan Lambie perform sessions of yoga, meditation and myofascial release, a type of self-massage with tennis balls.

The 36-year-old, who is an ambassador for educational charity Prince’s Foundation, will host the first “luxury wellness retreat” at yoga fan King Charles’ Dumfries House in East Ayrshire next weekend.

The event also offers a sound bath session, a cooking class and tours of the estate. Charles bought Dumfries House and its estate for £45m with the help of a charity in 2007.

He made it a base for a variety of education and training opportunities, particularly in traditional arts and crafts, which is open to the public.

The King believes that yoga should be part of a holistic approach to healthcare, while his wife Camilla is believed to have tried it as well. They haven’t practiced with Kilted Yogi yet, but Mr Wilson, from Dundee, says he shares Charles’ approach to wellness, the arts and Scotland.

She started practicing yoga 17 years ago after major surgery on her legs for a rare medical condition. He said: ‘It was a long road. It wasn’t all smiles and rainbows. When I started yoga, I really hated it. But clearly I love it now. His website and his Instagram account are full of photos of him contorting his body in beautiful places. Snapshots have been viewed more than 100 million times worldwide.

He said: ‘Kilted yoga melds my passion for yoga and Scottish heritage.’ And interestingly, he performed a revealing handstand at one point, suggesting that he is a devotee of the Scottish tradition of wearing kilts disdaining undergarments.
