Princess Charlene of Monaco appeared in high spirits while traveling to Fort Lauderdale in the US with her husband Prince Albert, new pictures reveal.

The 44-year-old Olympic swimmer has faced a difficult few years, spending 11 months away from the Mediterranean principality in her native South Africa, undergoing treatment for an unspecified condition.

However, in recent months, he has returned to the spotlight with a series of royal engagements, this visit being his biggest trip abroad to date.

The couple traveled to the US city to celebrate the completion of the world famous City Aquatic Center following a multi-million dollar revitalization project.

Princess Charlene of Monaco appeared in high spirits as she traveled to Fort Lauderdale in the US with her husband Prince Albert this week.

In the undated snaps, Charlene looked chic in a black polo neck and red patterned midi skirt.

The royal mother-of-two can be seen smiling as she joined the swimmers around the pool.

Mayor Dean J. Trantalis tweeted snapshots of the visit, writing: “The City of Fort Lauderdale recently welcomed the Princely Family of Monaco, Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene to celebrate the completion of the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center. World renowned city following a multi-million dollar revitalization project.

‘The reinvented Center features one of the world’s tallest diving towers and state-of-the-art competition pools for competitive and public use.

In the undated snaps, the former Olympic swimmer looked chic in a black polo neck and red patterned midi skirt.

‘Their Serene Highnesses have great interest in the adjoining International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHOF) and Aquatic Center.

‘HSH Prince Albert II is a 2011 gold medal honoree of ISHOF, and his uncle Jack Kelly Jr. served as ISHOF President in the ’80s.’

At the event, Prince Albert said: ‘We hope these ties continue even beyond today’s celebration here.

“We have wonderful plans to maybe have one of our main events both in Monaco and here in Fort Lauderdale, the Monaco Boat Show and the Monaco Yacht Show, to collaborate in a much more fruitful way. We look forward to all these opportunities.’

Princess Charlene met Prince Albert in 2000 during a swimming meet in Monaco and the couple married in 2011, before welcoming twins Gabriella and Jacques in 2014.

News of the visit comes after Prince Albert praised his wife, Princess Charlene of Monaco, for “turning things around in an incredible way” after a long battle over health.

Speaking in December, the 64-year-old royal told People he was “really proud of my wife,” adding: “Charlene is doing great.”

He continued, “As you know, last year was a very difficult year for her, and the beginning of this year.”

Albert added that after being admitted to a Swiss treatment center for burnout and staying out of the spotlight, Charlene, 44, has been “active at a number of different events.”

He highlighted a number of events the former Olympic swimmer had been in attendance for lately, including a recent visit to the Monaco branch of the Red Cross.

“She really enjoys doing things together and with the kids, so this year is ending on a very, very high note. We are really excited about how things are going,” Albert said.

While photos from last year showed Charlene looking frail, she now looks her old self with a healthy complexion and impeccable style.

In another recent outing for a traditional Christmas tree ceremony at the Palace of Monaco with her family, Charlene also seemed to be in good spirits.

Commenting on his children, eight-year-old twins Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, Albert said they too were doing “very well” and that instead of being distracted by social media, they were “very sports oriented.” and “they were still very curious about things.” .’

Following in her mother’s footsteps, one of her favorite after-school activities is swimming, along with taekwondo and tennis.

Showing another sign of unity, the Monaco royals launched their family Christmas card last month with the four dressed in fancy outfits by their Christmas tree.
