Charlamagne Tha God slams The View hosts for trying to ‘bully him into endorsing Biden’

Charlamange Tha God called out The View hosts for pressuring him to support Biden in a recent interview with Megyn Kelly on her podcast.

During his appearance on The View, Charlamange was ambushed by the show’s hosts, who demanded to know why he refused to endorse Biden in 2024.

“You have a huge platform that reaches millions of people,” said Sunny Hostin, speaking to the famous host of The Breakfast Club.

“You supported Biden in 2020,” she continued. “This time you say you’re not going to support anyone. Charlamange, this is not the time to sit this one out.”

Charlamange responded by pointing out that he never said he would sit out the election and that he would definitely vote.

“I like to focus on issues, not individuals,” he said, before being interrupted by Hostin, who grimly repeated: “Why wouldn’t I endorse it? Why wouldn’t we support Biden?’

Charlamange made it clear that he viewed Trump as a threat to democracy, then noted that there were only two choices for president. But he resisted the idea of explicitly supporting Biden.

“Why do you want us to say this if we don’t feel comfortable saying it?” asked Charlamange about celebrity endorsements of Biden.

Later in his appearance on The View, the radio host said, “The reality is, I think both candidates are rubbish.”

At another point, host Alyssa Farah Griffin called Charlamange a “double hater,” an odd label that baffled him.

Griffin elaborated by saying that a double-hater was someone who didn’t like Biden or Trump.

“I thought that was just American these days,” Charlagmange responded, before adding, “If you look at the polls, people don’t seem happy with either.”

Whoopi Goldberg talked about not understanding why Democrats are mad at Joe Biden. Then she said there were only two candidates, and at that point Charlamange said there were also third party candidates.

“I’ll smack your butt,” Goldberg replied.

“Why do you need this if we don't feel comfortable saying it,” Charlamange asked, referring to Biden's celebrity endorsements.

The day after his appearance on The View, Charlamange joined Megyn Kelly on her podcast.

“I saw you yesterday on The View where they were trying to cover you and Biden and this presidential race,” Kelly said.

“Those ladies really wanted you to say you supported him,” Kelly continued.

The podcast host then asked Charlamange why he was reluctant to support Biden despite making it abundantly clear that he wasn’t voting for Trump.

“Just because I’m not a fan,” he replied.

“People think me not wanting to endorse means I’m not going to vote, which I think is the strangest thing ever,” Charlamange said, apparently in reference to Hostin’s comments on The View.

Then Charlamange mentioned his unusual conversation with Whoopi Goldberg in his conversation with Kelly.

“There was another moment in that conversation where I said, ‘Hey, there are third-party candidates.’ Whoopi told me she will abandon me if I bring up third party candidates.”

“I just think it’s a little strange where we are as a culture and as a society where it’s almost like there’s one of two extremes.”

Kelly noted how the daytime talk show hosts were “really pushing” Charlamange to support Biden.

“They wanted you to go to your audience and say, ‘Vote for Biden,’ and that was very strange. Like, you have a magic wand that can make this thing move.”

“Exactly,” Charlamange agreed, before musing that he “didn’t think the two-party system was best for us here in America.”

Kelly asked the radio host if he would consider appearing on RFK Jr. to vote, prompting Charlamange to reveal that he had investigated all third-party candidates, including Marianne Williamson and Dr. Cornel West.

“I’ve been looking at third parties since 2016,” Charlamange said.

He added, “I’m actually shocked that there hasn’t been a third candidate who hasn’t been able to come along and really galvanize people, especially since American seems so disappointed in the choices we have now. ‘

Later in the interview, Charlamange reflected on the public’s disillusionment with the machinery of politics.

“We are the exhausted majority…It’s not just about being tired of the Democrats or being tired of the Republicans. People are just tired of politics,” he said.

‘If these parties want people to have more energy about their candidates, maybe they should just nominate better candidates. I don’t think it’s rocket science.’
