Justin Herbert’s frustration spilled over the SoFi Stadium sideline when he smashed his helmet during a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers saw a 10-0 lead disappear on Sunday night as their division rivals emerged with a 17-10 victory in the Week 4 showdown.
The usually calm quarterback was dissatisfied with his team’s performance and his frustration boiled over into an unpleasant scene on the sideline.
Despite an ankle injury, Herbert prepared for the important meeting with the reigning champions and could not hide his annoyance during the match. In the third quarter, Herbert was seen hitting his helmet on the bench after another lackluster drive from his offense.
While the meltdown was unpleasant, it was justified because Herbert struggled throughout the match.

Herbert was sacked twice and hit 10 times by the Kansas City defense. While dealing with the injury, he was seen limping off the field several times.
Nevertheless, Herbert completed 16 of 27 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown – which he tied with Ladd McConkey.
After taking an early lead, the Chargers were held scoreless in the second half. Their four drives resulted in two punts, a missed field goal and turnovers on downs.
Los Angeles came into Sunday’s game after back-to-back wins over the Raiders and Panthers before losing to the Steelers in Week 3. The loss now brings them to a 2-2 record.
They will have a much-needed bye week before returning to action in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos.
On the other hand, the Chiefs started their season with a 27-20 win over the Ravens, a 26-25 win over the Bengals and a 22-17 win over the Falcons. They extended their undefeated streak to four games with the win over LA.
Kansas City hopes to continue their winning ways against the New Orleans Saints on October 8.
