Chantelle Cameron blames Katie Taylor for the pair’s trilogy fight not being made… as she claims she ‘agreed a massive purse reduction’ and wanted to ‘create her own legacy’

  • The pair would clash for the third time after their second fight last year
  • Each woman has one win, but a third fight is still a long way from a win
  • Taylor could instead face Amanda Serrano for a second time in the near future

Chantelle Cameron has accused Katie Taylor of saying the pair’s trilogy fight is still not made.

Taylor got her own back against Cameron in Ireland late last year after suffering the first defeat of her professional career six months earlier.

The pair put on a stunning spectacle when Taylor emerged victorious by majority decision in November, the same method of victory that Cameron claimed in May.

Both called for the trilogy after the fight but little progress has been made regarding agreeing a fight and it appears negotiations are now further away than ever and there is little chance the pair will face each other anytime soon fight.

Cameron took to Instagram to lay the blame on Taylor, insisting the 37-year-old knows she got lucky in the second fight.

Cameron claimed on Instagram that she agreed to take a pay cut for the fight

“Just an update on the Katie fight talks,” Cameron began in an Instagram post, alongside a photo from the pair’s first match. “I have agreed to a huge reduction in the purse to make this fight financially possible as I was told this was the delay to the agreed fight.

“The reason was I wanted to create my own legacy. Now it looks like Katie will be in a “keep busy” fight and avoiding me because I think she knows that some of the things that went well for her in the last fight won’t happen again.

‘Sorry to the true boxing fans who wanted to see this fight, but the trilogy’s cancellation is down to Katie and her team and not me.’

Taylor doesn’t have a fight scheduled at the moment, but the third fight with Cameron seemed like an obvious choice on the Irish star’s back, somewhat saving her boxing career with last year’s win.

She has been drafted by former opponent Amanda Serrano, who defeated Taylor via split decision in 2022 despite her fight against Nina Mienke being canceled.

She said Taylor is about to enter a “keep busy” fight because “she knows some of the things that went her way won’t happen again.”

Taylor could instead face Amanda Serrano after her former opponent called her out

She discussed a possible rematch before taking on Mienke, Serrano said exclusively Mailsport: ‘I want the rematch 100 percent. I’ll have Nina come Saturday night, but then I’ll have my team contact her team.

“We definitely want that fight and I think it’s a fight that everyone wants to see. I think the rematch would be even better than the first fight. She’s definitely on my radar. I think I now have the power and the knowledge to go out and maybe stop her this time.”
