Channel Ten debuts Gladiators reboot trailer, promising ‘superhero’ action as cult series returns this summer

Channel Ten has dropped the first trailer for their reboot of the iconic show Gladiators, which debuts next year.

The extreme sports competition, hosted by Beau Ryan and Liz Ellis, is a reboot of the classic ’90s cult reality series, with contestants competing in a stylized arena.

And a new preview teases fans that they can look forward to some ‘superhero’ action.

The show’s participants wear skin-tight costumes and fly through the air.

In one scene in the trailer, former NRL star Sandor Earl can be seen hurling a digitally animated ‘lightning bolt’.

In another scene, Hollywood stuntwoman Chanique Greyling is seen floating in space in a white, barely-there two-piece outfit, topped with a giant set of wings.

Meanwhile, cast member Harriet Roberts is seen jogging against the cityscape of a futuristic metropolis.

At another point in the trailer, the cast is introduced alongside their “gladiator” names, including powerlifting champion Jaymii Morris (Chaos), and Ironman and male model Jett Kenny (Viking).

Other cast members in the trailer include bodybuilder and former Ninja Warrior Kwame Duah.

F45 trainer Blessings Chilufya also joins the cast alongside fitness guru Damien Rider, CrossFit champions Alethea Boon, Khan Porter and Katelin van Zyl.

Tatyanna Dumas, Australia’s youngest Ninja Warrior, rounds out the cast.

The skills of the Gladiators and the participants are tested with obstacles such as Hang Tough, Duel, The Wall, Power Ball, Pyramid and The Eliminator.

It will be the ultimate test of speed, strength, endurance, agility and power.

The high-octane show, made popular in 1995 and 1996, found its home on Ten.

In addition to the Australian show, the BBC is also planning a reboot for British fans of the competitive series.

The show was rebooted in 2008, hosted by Tom Williams and Zoe Naylor, but failed to find a regular audience.

The show was filmed at The Dome at Sydney Showground, with challengers competing for $50,000 and a Subaru Forester.
