Liz Cantor, a veteran weather presenter at Channel Seven, announced on Wednesday that she is leaving the network after 17 years.
The charismatic 41-year-old TV presenter shared the shocking news in a statement, announcing that she would be moving to rival network Channel Ten.
“I was a seven, now I’m a ten. I feel honoured to be part of the return of local news to Queensland. I’m really excited to bring it back to our community,” Cantor said.
In a surprise move, Liz will present on 10 News First Queensland, alongside another former Channel Seven reporter, Sharyn Ghidella, who also left the network earlier this year.
Cantor, who starts her new role on Monday, paid tribute to her former colleagues on Instagram and shared her excitement about the career move.
Along with a gallery of priceless photos from her work at the network, Liz also wrote some heartfelt words: ‘I’d like to take this space to thank my 7News colleagues.
‘I cherish the friendships, experiences, lessons and growth I have had with you over the past 17 years.
“You are the most incredible, hardworking group of inspiring people. I count my lucky stars that I got to share such an influential part of my life with all of you.”

The shocking news comes after Sharyn Ghidella, 57, also revealed her exciting new job after her shock dismissal from Seven.
The Queensland newsreader was sacked last month after 17 years at 7News, amid a series of redundancies across the media sector.
She later confirmed that she will present Network 10’s 5pm Queensland news bulletin.
Her move to the network also sees the 10 News First show return to Brisbane studios after being broadcast from Sydney for many years.

Sharyn described her new job as a “full circle moment” as she returns to Network 10, where she began her career as a news presenter in 1990.
Sandra Sully, the current News First presenter, is taking over the reins, saying she is “excited” that Sharyn is taking on the role.
Seven has been hit by a cost-cutting bloodbath as the network’s news division comes under new management.
Other big names joining us include veterans Robert Ovadia, Andrew Frampton and experienced Melbourne crime reporter Cameron Baud.
