Channel Seven newsreader Mark Ferguson lists sprawling country homestead for $8.5million

Channel Seven newsreader Mark Ferguson has put his sprawling mansion up for sale for a whopping $8.5 million.

Located in the small rural town of Crookwell in the southern Tablelands of New South Wales, the property was purchased by Mark and his wife Jayne in 2014 for $1.4 million. Daily Telegraph reported.

The couple have now put the property, known as Hazeldean, on the market with a price quote of around $8.5 million.

The four-bedroom house is set in an extensive 1,921 hectare area that is also a working sheep and cattle farm.

According to the listing, the estate can house 3,000 merino sheep and approximately 150 cows.

In the ten years that the family has lived in the building, it has undergone extensive renovation.

“The homestead has been completely renovated and retained for the seller’s use, with the management living locally and requiring no accommodation,” estate agent Medway said.

‘However, it will pass any inspection for buyers who wish to live in the property full-time.’

He added that the stunning spread would appeal to many different tastes and needs.

‘The property is currently under long-term contract management and offers management solutions for both out-of-district grazing companies looking for geographical diversity and investors looking for a turnkey, hands-off investment in the countryside.’

The property oozes rural charm, also boasts the best of modern conveniences and is set within beautiful manicured gardens.

It features a spacious kitchen and living room, as well as a traditional fireplace in the bedroom.

The sale comes after Mark’s future at Channel Seven was decided in September after it was announced he would co-present Sydney’s 7News with Angela Cox.

There was widespread speculation that Mark would be eyeing the shaft amid an ongoing staff carnage at the network, but he has called the shots.

‘I’m really looking forward to it. Ange will bring so many extras to the bulletin every night – more experience, more energy and it will allow us to be much more versatile when those big stories break,” Ferguson said in a statement.

There was previously speculation that Mark would be appointed as a weeknight newsreader at Channel Seven, amid several high-profile redundancies at the embattled network.

Insiders previously suggested the news anchor, 58, could be replaced by the network’s weekend team, Michael Usher and Cox.

The Daily Telegraph had reported that Seven news bosses were ‘warming to’ the idea of replacing the newsreader with a duo.

Sources claim that the weekend news team has been in training since 2021 to take over the weekday bulletin.
