Channel Seven commentator James Brayshaw suddenly gets VERY personal in uncomfortable outburst during cricket coverage
James Brayshaw’s comments during the Boxing Day Test veered into deeply personal territory as the Channel Seven star revealed he was still hurting after his 2014 divorce from first wife Sarah.
The 57-year-old former cricket star was discussing Oscar Piastri’s performance at the MCG on Saturday when asked if he lived in the same prestigious Melbourne suburb as the Australian F1 talent.
“His family is Brighton, here, Bayside in Melbourne,” Brayshaw said on Triple M’s radio coverage of the match.
“You used to live there, didn’t you?” asked his co-commentator, former Australian cricket star Greg Blewett.
“Yeah, and then, uh… then, uh… then we got divorced,” Brayshaw explained, making Blewett laugh.
He then described Australian skipper Pat Cummins hitting Indian batsman Nitish Kumar Reddy with a delivery.

The Channel Seven star has now moved on with his second wife Lisa Christie (pictured together)
“That’s a hard blow to him, Nitish Reddy, on the arm. He’s in pain,” Brayshaw continued.
“Not as much pain as I am, but he’s in pain!”
That last comment left Blewett and fellow Triple M star Isabelle Westbury laughing.
Brayshaw split from Sarah in 2014 after they had four children together.
“It is with sadness that Sarah and James Brayshaw have confirmed that they are going their separate ways after 23 years of marriage,” the couple said in a joint statement.
“They remain close friends and are devoted and loving parents to their four sons, who will always be their priority.”
Two years later, Brayshaw talked about some of the issues that may have played a role in the failure.
“I need to get better at being a father and a partner, being around more and not being stressed and exhausted when I am,” he said The era after leaving his job at Channel Nine and as president of the North Melbourne AFL club.
Brayshaw and Christie married in a star-studded ceremony in Perth last year
“That’s the part of my life I’ve been terribly wrong for too long. That is priority number 1.’
The West Australian moved on with Lisa Christie in 2017 and the couple married in a beautiful ceremony in Perth last November, a year after he popped the question while they were on holiday in Italy.
Blewett presented the bride and groom with their rings, and former AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan was the MC for the event.
Other famous faces in attendance included football stars past and present, Brad Scott, Alastair Clarkson, Sam Newman, Brian Tayor, Luke Darcy, Nathan Brown, Campbell Brown, Don Pyke, Garry Lyon and Billy Brownless.
There were also a number of high-profile cricket figures in attendance, including Adam Gilchrist, Arren Lehmann, Justin Langer, Mark Taylor, Tom Moody, Dennis Lillee and Brendon Julian.
Brayshaw’s cousin Angus Brayshaw, who played for the Melbourne Demons at the time, was at the wedding with his fiancée Danielle Frawley.
Media titan Craig Hutchinson admitted the sheer number of famous faces on the guest list was ‘bizarre’.
“It was a great night, well done to James and Lisa,” Hutchison said on his Sounding Board podcast.
“A decent cricketing 11 was picked out of the wedding. To be fair, it was quite a bizarre evening in terms of the scale of the identities there.”
