Channel Nine’s Hamish Blake announces career move to new network as the Lego Masters star lands his dream hosting role

Channel Nine’s Hamish Blake has revealed he is a ‘superfan’ of survival series Alone Australia.

And in a surprising move, the 42-year-old Lego Masters favorite has announced that he will present a special episode of the SBS hit on May 29.

In Alone Australia: The Reunion, Hamish will have an intimate conversation with the cast of season two.

The episode will be broadcast immediately after the winner of the dramatic survival series was announced on Wednesday.

The grueling show sees ten survivors dropped into the remote expanse of New Zealand’s South Island, where they must survive the competition for a chance to win $250,000.

And the reunion will be the first chance the cast has had to share their experiences with each other since enduring the rigors of the New Zealand wilderness.

Fans can also expect to see images and clips that won’t be shown during this year’s blockbuster season.

Meanwhile, Hamish admits he is not a survivor, even though he is a big fan.

“Like everyone else, I get so invested in every season of Alone while smugly watching from the comfort of my couch,” he said in an announcement.

‘I have so much respect for the participants and so many things I want to ask them as a viewer, again from the couch, but this time in a studio with them.

“I hope our conversation contains a lot more trout than eel and if you don’t understand that reference, maybe don’t watch,” he joked.

The programme, which has been a huge hit for SBS, is being billed as the most brutal and authentic reality series in history as the participants are left alone in the wild and forced to film themselves.

The first season of Alone Australia made headlines last year after becoming the SBS network’s most-watched original series ever.

Based on an American format, the Australian version, the first season of which was filmed in Tasmania, scored over a million viewers for half of its eleven episodes.

In the season one finale, Gina Chick was crowned the series winner after braving the elements to survive a whopping 67 days in the grueling wilderness.
