Channel Nine star gets shock new tattoo ahead of the AFL Grand Final

Christine Ahern left viewers completely stunned when she revealed her plans for an AFL-themed tattoo live on air on Thursday.

The Channel Nine star joined AFL fans in Melbourne ahead of Saturday’s clash between the Brisbane Lions and Sydney Swans at the MCG.

Christine spoke to a fan called Gemma, who took her dedication to the sport to a whole new level by getting a Swans 2024 tattoo on her arm.

But Christine then shocked her colleagues Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo by revealing that she too was planning to get an AFL tag.

During the live broadcast, the football fan showed off a Lions stencil she had printed on her wrist as she prepared to get a tattoo.

“Hahn did such a fantastic job that I decided to get a tattoo of the Brisbane Lions. That’s where I got the little stencil,” she teased.

Her revelation left her 38-year-old co-host Sarah completely distraught, who begged Christine not to get the tattoo, while Alex Cullen looked equally shocked in the studio.

Only Karl, 50, seemed to be on board with Christine’s shocking idea, pumping his fists in the air and shouting: ‘Yes Chris!’ as he laughed.

The Today Melbourne reporter was seen live as she lay on the couch ready to get tattooed as the tattoo artist got to work prepping the area.

“We’ll see you in a moment with my Brisbane Lions tattoo. I was going to get it on my neck,” she shared before the cameras stopped rolling.

Despite her cheeky antics, it didn’t appear that Christine had actually gotten the tattoo, with only the purple stencil visible in the photos she shared on her Instagram page.

She also shared a photo of the tattoo gun being applied to her arm, but there doesn’t appear to be any needles or ink on it.

The highly anticipated AFL Grand Final match kicks off on Saturday, with thousands of fans descending on Melbourne ahead of the big game.

Katy Perry will headline the pre-match show, while Cody Simpson will sing the national anthem.

And on Wednesday, Daily Mail Australia exclusively revealed that Tina Arena will also be showcasing her singing talents at the sporting event.

Organisers hope she will create another memorable TV moment after Delta Goodrum performed alongside Robbie Williams in an iconic show at last year’s final.

It is not yet known whether Tina, who sings in English, Italian, French and Spanish, will take to the stage for pre-match, half-time or post-match entertainment.

Tina, known for her hit Burn and her cover of Don’t Cry for Me Argentina, has signed a contract after plans for Kylie Minogue to perform reportedly fell through.

Katy remained tight-lipped about Tina’s involvement during an interview with The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick. She brazenly said: ‘You’ll just have to wait and see.’

But then she said teasingly, “All I know is that she’s a Scorpio… and that she’s amazing.”
