Channel 7’s Monique Wright thinks she is interviewing Barack Obama in elaborate April Fools joke

Weekend Sunrise’s Monique Wright thinks she’s interviewing Barack Obama in an elaborate April Fool’s Day prank and flies into a rage when the truth is revealed: ‘I hate you all!’

Channel 7 presenter Monique Wright fell for a hilarious April Fools prank that was orchestrated by her Weekend Sunrise co-host Matt Doran on Saturday.

The journalist thought she had gotten an exclusive interview with former US President Barack Obama, but was actually an impersonator.

Matt set up the fake Zoom interview with Reggie, an Obama impersonator from Los Angeles, hoping to fool his colleague.

The entire team got in on the hilarious prank and even distorted Monique’s monitor to make it harder for her to recognize that Reggie wasn’t Obama.

It was so well orchestrated that the journalist conducted the entire interview without realizing that she was not speaking with the former US president.

At the end of their conversation, Matt revealed to Monique that it was an April Fool’s Day prank and that the man on her screen was an Obama impersonator.

Monique was furious with her co-host for the prank and blamed her gullibility on poor technological setup.

“Reggie, they’ve used a very strange looking monitor, I can’t see you well so I blame it on technical issues,” he said.

‘And the extraordinary acting skills of not only you but our boss, the whole team, I hate them, I was so excited!

“I ran to change two minutes early, so I’d like to apologize to Chrissy, the producer who saw me in my underwear.”

Monique then jokingly pushed her co-host against a table and said, ‘I hate you all, but most of all I hate you!’

Clearly feeling bad about pulling the elaborate prank on his colleague, Matt tried to make her feel better about falling for it.

At the end of their conversation, Matt revealed to Monique that it was an April Fool’s Day prank and that the man on his screen was an Obama impersonator, and she was furious.

“You didn’t let me know, Reggie was very convincing, but I’m scared…scared doesn’t really quite cover it, I’m completely terrified it’s anywhere near the mark.”

Monique then said that he should be terrified as she will get him back one day.

“You made everyone go crazy, the whole building was involved and I totally fell in love,” he said.

‘Take care of this space, stay comfortable, Matt.’
