One of Channel 4’s newest cooking shows has reportedly been axed by the broadcaster after just one series.

The Great Cookbook Challenge with Jamie Oliver has been suspended after the debut series ended in March.

During the show, 18 chefs competed for a book publishing deal and the release of their own cookbooks, creating dishes in hopes of impressing a judge.

Each cook pitched their book ideas and various recipes that would appear in it, with contestants slowly progressing to the final three.

According to The sunChannel 4 has decided not to renew the show for a second series, with a source saying: ‘Bosses have decided to leave Great Cookbook Challenge at one series.

It comes after Jamie revealed that cooking “saved his life” as he struggled with dyslexia and reflected on renewing his vows with wife Jools.

The chef candidly explained why he decided to pursue cooking as a career, admitting that without it he would have been “utterly miserable.”

He explained that he found schoolwork “really hard” because of his dyslexia, a learning disability that affects reading and spelling skills.

Speaking of the ceremony, Jamie said they planned to renew their vows on their 20th wedding anniversary, before postponing it due to the Covid pandemic.
