A Channel 4 News anchor has issued a fawning apology after he was filmed calling Tory minister Steve Baker a ‘c**t’.
Krishnan Guru-Murthy held a ‘robust’ interview with the Northern Ireland minister on Wednesday about Suella Braverman’s decision to resign as Home Secretary.
After the interview took place, the live feed switched to Prime Minister Liz Truss’ home. Guru-Murthy thought he was off air, but his comments were picked up by other livestream broadcasters in the area.
In images now widely circulated on social media, the Channel 4 News anchor said: ‘It wasn’t a stupid question, Steve, you know that. I’m very happy to compete with you [PM Liz] Truly every day.
‘What is it.’

The audio has since sparked widespread social media frenzy, and Mr Baker told Times Radio it was an “unfortunate” accident.
“If it’s against his code of conduct, I hope they fire him,” he said.
Earlier this evening, Guru-Murthy unreservedly apologized for the blunder.
“After a solid interview with Steve Baker MP, I used a very offensive word in an unguarded moment out of the blue,” he said.
“While it was not broadcast, that word is in no context below the standards I have set myself and I offer my unreserved apologies. I’ve contacted Steve Baker to say sorry.’
Mr Baker responded to the tweet with a message that read: “I appreciate your apologies. Thank you.’

The pair went head-to-head in the interview after Ms. Braverman was forced to resign after sending a sensitive document from her personal email.
The MP supported Ms Braverman during the interview, saying she showed “great integrity” by admitting her mistake and tendering her resignation.
Mr Baker said that had it not been for the fault he had no doubt that Mrs Braverman would have continued in her role – a statement Guru-Murthy disputed.
The anchor noted that Ms. Braverman took “clear potshots” at Prime Minister Liz Truss in her official letter of resignation.
She swipes that when people made “mistakes” – something Ms. Truss has admitted – the right thing to do was to stop.
“This government looks like a joke,” Guru-Murthy said. “This is another example of this government’s incompetence, isn’t it?”

But Mr Baker said “tensions will certainly arise in times of resignation” and said he hoped Ms Truss “can re-appoint Suella in the new year”.
It is believed there was an argument last night between Ms Braverman and Ms Truss – who were rivals in the Conservative leadership contest – over immigration and visa policies.
She was under pressure to sign a plan to liberalize migration rules to boost the economy, as part of Mrs. Truss’ drive for growth. The former minister appears to have sent an email detailing the proposed policy to a parliamentarian aide, with speculation she may have tried to sabotage it.
A Tory MP close to Ms Braverman told MailOnline about the security breach: “It’s the kind of thing that gives you a beating and moves on — unless you want to get rid of someone.”
The MP said Ms Braverman was “not happy with their stance on immigration”, and also warned that more layoffs could be imminent.
“I have the impression we’re having an avalanche.”
