Channel 10 reporter Natasha Exelby brags about her ‘five star safety rating’ moments before buying the car she would go on to crash while four times over the legal limit

Former 10 News First reporter Natasha Exelby admitted drink-driving earlier this month after crashing her new Kia Sports Plus into a parked car in Toorak while four times over the speed limit.

And now footage has emerged of the moment Exelby, 34, bought the vehicle from a Melbourne dealer and bragged about its ‘five-star safety rating’.

The video was posted to Instagram by Exelby in March, and we see her beaming in front of her new car as she hugs the seller while ironically telling her fans that she is not at risk of crashing the car.

‘I bought a new adult car! It was time for Tash to grow up, so I bought a new Kia Sports Plus. It’s so exciting,” she began.

“Most importantly, it has a five-star safety rating. I was taken care of by the lovely Josh and the entire Kia team.

‘No crashes for Tash, because remember: the five-star safety rating!’ she adds, giving the camera a thumbs up.

One of Exelby’s followers cheekily noted that she later crashed that vehicle.

“Is this the car you crashed while driving drunk?” they asked.

Exelby faced the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court last week, where she escaped conviction after admitting drink driving and driving while suspended.

The former 10 News First reporter was arrested earlier this year for driving more than four times the legal limit.

Exelby – who bravely spoke about her mental health struggles on Studio 10 last year – drove a white Kia Cerato into a parked car along Orrong Rd in Toorak on June 26.

Two police officers arrived on the scene and conducted a preliminary breath test, which revealed alcohol.

Exelby allegedly told police she had only consumed “two seltzers” and that she did not believe she was driving while suspended.

However, “an evidentiary breath test later showed she had an alleged blood alcohol concentration of 0.220,” the Herald Sun reported.

In a statement, Exelby, who quit the morning show Studio 10 last December, took “full responsibility” for her actions.
