A well-known Network Ten presenter has branded a fraudulent Wikipedia article about him “completely false, malicious and hugely offensive”.

Daily Mail Australia reported on Wednesday that a shocking claim about Lachlan Kennedy had been published on his public profile on the online encyclopedia (which can be edited by anyone) the day before yesterday.

‘Lachlan Kennedy is an Australian journalist and newsreader,’ the Wikipedia article began. ‘He is best known for….’

The rest of the article cannot be published for legal reasons. A spokesperson for Ten called the unpublishable claim “incorrect” and “untrue.” There is no suggestion otherwise.

The unusual edit came as Kennedy and his wife, naturopath Cassie Davenport, were separating.

He recently dated Liz Daniels, a new political reporter at Channel Nine.

Kennedy had previously told Daily Mail Australia the editing was “appalling” but has now gone further in condemning the alleged lie.

“This is a private matter. Cassie and I love our children very much and we are committed to raising them together,” Kennedy said Confidential.

“We have chosen to keep our separation private so that we can work on being the best parents we can be in the future.

“The details in the Wikipedia hack are completely false, malicious, and deeply offensive.”

The controversial paragraph was first added to Wikipedia on Saturday, July 13 at 2:22 p.m. by an anonymous editor.

Moments later, the controversial paragraph was removed by another user who said, “You need proof that this is what he’s most known for.”

The defamatory message was then added again and then removed again.

A spokeswoman for Network Ten said: “We have been informed that the claims made in the screenshot of the Wikipedia post are incorrect and untrue.”

In a statement to Daily Mail Australia, Ms Davenport said: ‘Lachlan and I have separated. We love and adore our children and are deeply committed to raising a family together.

“Lachlan is a great father to our boys. As far as I know, the details written and circulated on the Wiki page are false.”

Daily Mail Australia asked Ms Daniels to comment on her new romance. After a long pause, she said ‘no’ and hung up the phone. There is no suggestion of injustice.

The father of two, Mr Kennedy, has closed most of his social media pages in recent weeks.

He even deleted some posts that refers to his wife from his X account (formerly Twitter).

Mr. Kennedy and Mrs. Davenport were married in 2022 and have a four-year-old and a six-month-old.

Kennedy joined Network 10 as a reporter in 2010. In June 2022, he was appointed one of the presenters of the network’s new national news bulletin.

Kennedy and Ms Davenport are said to have met in 2017 at Ten’s Pyrmont office, where she worked as an executive secretary.

Like Mr Kennedy, Ms Daniels was previously a political reporter for the state of NSW, where she covered developments in the state parliament in Macquarie St., Sydney.
