Channel 10 eyes off comedian Sam Pang for a Friday late night chat show: ‘Think Graham Norton meets Rove Live’

Channel 10 is aiming to regain its place in the Friday night ratings with a bold new plan, reports claim.

The network is apparently in early talks with comedian Sam Pang, 50, to host a chat show on Friday nights.

According to New ideathe new program would emulate the successful format once supported by Rove McManus and will compete with Seven’s Better Homes and Gardens.

“There are plans to come up with some sort of late night-style chat show – think Graham Norton and Rove Live – and Sam is the best choice (to host that),” an insider told the publication.

“With Sam’s growing popularity and proven approval rating with audiences, Network Ten simply cannot afford to lose him… this type of program is something he would love and keep him at the network,” they continued.

The insider explained that Channel 10 has been struggling with its Friday night slot since the cancellation of The Living Room.

“They need to spice things up a bit, and Sam’s show could be the type of format that offers something different,” the source said.

“A chat program has been missing in Australia for a while and it’s time someone brought them back,” she added.

It comes after an insider told Ny Breaking Australia that 10 is planning two seasons of Australian Survivor in 2025.

“They are putting together a tenth season special, as well as an Australia vs. USA Survivor all-star match, which will be shown simultaneously in America and Down Under,” the insider said.

This strategic shift is intended to capitalize on Australian Survivor’s continued popularity, in the hope that it will boost the network’s ratings and bring back loyal viewers.

“Survivor has consistently performed well for us, and we believe this new approach will reignite audience interest,” a Channel 10 executive said.

The Masked Singer, The Bachelor and Gladiators are not scheduled to return to the network.
