After the surgery, she explained the reasons for going under the knife, writing on social media, “It was an accumulation of things: medical issues related to obesity, mental health decline, I barely left the house. I needed a second chance at my health.’
Chanelle was asked if she felt she still had options, to which she wrote, “Yeah sure. I would have continued to eat myself into an early grave had I not attempted surgery. It’s not for everyone and I’ve done extensive research on it and it’s changed my life.’
And this month she appeared on a podcast explaining that she believes the toxic unhealthy cycle she found herself in a few years ago was harder to break than if she had been addicted to heroin or alcohol.
The mother-of-two admitted she was in a “really bad place” with finding a healthy relationship with food and ended up going down the surgery route as a last resort.
“I was in really bad shape with my food,” she continues to tell Johnny Seifert Secure the insecure podcast.
“Other people who haven’t experienced food addiction or the cycles of unhealthy eating and binge eating disorder would be like ‘oh my gosh it’s some cookies, calm down. We all eat some cookies from time to time, like chill.’
“But if that was alcohol or heroin or some kind of drug, and you only had a little bit of it, you’d know for sure that it would break your sobriety.
‘It’s no different here, you really need support to be able to eat healthily for life and to be eaten in moderation with a treat now and then.’
