Championship boss quits managerial role again – after calling fans ‘THICKOS’ – but will manage club for two more games in bizarre twist to shock resignation
Millwall have confirmed boss Neil Harris will leave the club, just days after calling a section of their fans ‘thickos’.
The club confirmed Harris’ departure but in a bizarre twist confirmed he will oversee their next two matches.
Harris will remain in charge of their Championship match at home to Sheffield United on Wednesday before playing his final game as boss away at Middlesbrough on Saturday.
“At the start of 2024 we found ourselves in a difficult situation,” said James Berylson, chairman of Millwall.
Neil came in and, together with his technical staff, encouraged the team.
‘Through action and leadership he guided Millwall to great form, securing our return to Championship football this season.
‘I would like to thank Neil for all his efforts since returning to the Club and we will be forever grateful for that.
‘Following discussions with Neil in recent days he felt it was the right time to resign as a result of the Middlesbrough game and I have accepted his decision.’
