Cesc Fabregas has hit back at a social media account that shamefully put him at the center of a debate over Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer.
The England internationals have regularly been the subject of fierce debates between supporters of their respective clubs, due to their similar playing style, age and position.
Saka and Palmer are the last two winners of the PFA Young Player of the Year award and interim England boss Lee Carsley has struggled to accommodate his pair of talented right wingers.
It is in this context that Fabregas, who played for both clubs – Arsenal and Chelsea – was quoted in a report on
‘I assure you that Palmer cannot get a starting spot in any EPL top 6, except perhaps Manchester United and Tottenham. Saka runs on every team in the universe. For me this debate is not relevant.’ Yes sir. Debate closed!’ That’s what the World Cup winner is said to have said.

In fact, the Como manager had praised the Chelsea youngster’s talents in an interview with the BBC.
In response to the erroneous message circulating on X, Fabregas said: ‘The danger of social media is that people really believe everything they read. No need to compare players, England are lucky to have two great talents, just enjoy! #Fake!’
Last week, Palmer was named England’s Player of the Year for the 2023-2024 season, despite earning just nine caps for his country. The 22-year-old scored 31 goals in 54 appearances in all competitions last season and is hailed by some as the best player in the Premier League at the moment.
His red-hot heroics saw him recognized at international level when the forward made his Three Lions debut against Malta last November.
The public voted for the prestigious Player of the Year and Palmer emerged victorious, ahead of Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka, the Real Madrid midfielder who finished second and the Arsenal ace third.
Saka has emerged victorious in the past two seasons, while captains such as captain Harry Kane, Wayne Rooney and David Beckham have also won the award over the years.
