Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has been released from hospital after suffering a concussion in a terror collision against Southampton.
The 33-year-old is believed to have been knocked unconscious after Southampton substitute Sekou Mara tried to volley the ball but only kicked Azpilicueta in the face.
Azpilicueta needed oxygen as he was treated by doctors from both teams for almost 10 minutes on the pitch.
Finally, the defender was taken out on a stretcher, with an orthopedic collar, and remained in the hospital to carry out more tests in recent days.
However, the Spain international posted a positive update of him giving a thumbs up while smiling while undergoing tests at hospital.

Azpilicueta has already been released and was captured today at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground, although he did not participate in any activities.
He was even photographed enjoying a drink alongside boss Graham Potter during the first team training session.
Chelsea released a short statement saying: “Following a concussion sustained during Saturday’s game against Southampton, César Azpilicueta has been released from hospital and is recovering well at Cobham.
The club’s medical team is closely monitoring César’s condition, adhering to important concussion protocols in place to ensure his safety.
“Cesar watched training today, before starting work to return to the field.”
Azpilicueta required oxygen while being treated before finally being carried off the pitch on a stretcher.
Azpilicueta will remain sidelined for the time being, but boss Graham Potter hopes to have the defender back at his disposal in the coming weeks as they continue to try to turn their fortunes around.
James Ward-Prowse’s goal gave Southampton a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge, condemning Chelsea to their second defeat in a week after the Champions League loss to Borussia Dortmund.
The Blues are currently sitting 10th in the Premier League after a miserable campaign so far and an even worse run of late.
They face a trip to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur next Sunday afternoon.
