A man has been charged after two senior police officers were allegedly assaulted and badly injured in front of horrfied commuters during peak hour at one of Australia’s busiest train stations.
Officers from Police Transport Command were patrolling Sydney’s Central Station on Friday afternoon when they began speaking with a female passenger in relation to an unrelated matter.
They were then approached by a man, who attempted to interfere.
He then allegedly assaulted two male officers while being arrested.

Ahorrified commuter took a photo of the scene, showing a large part of the station cordoned off.
An acting sergeant suffered a dislocated shoulder while a senior constable suffered a broken nose.
They were treated by paramedics before they were taken to St Vincents Hospital for further treatment.
The 25-year-old man was taken to Day Street Police Station.
He was charged with two counts of assaulting police in execution of duty causing actual bodily harm and hinder/resist police in the execution of duty.
He spent the night behind bars and will appear in Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
