Ange Postecoglou insists she won’t ‘jump into any job that comes her way’ as speculation mounts that Celtic manager will move to the EPL

  • Celtic boss has stated he is happy at Celtic FC
  • Informed interest from Everton and Leeds United
  • Postecoglou in line for three trophies in Scotland
  • Hoops won the League Cup against Rangers on Sunday
  • He could also win the Scottish Premiership and the FA Cup

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has once again dispelled speculation that he will soon leave Scotland to manage in the English Premier League.

The 57-year-old Postecoglou won the League Cup for a second time on Sunday and is set to also claim the Scottish Premiership title and lift the FA Cup in the coming months.

He was reportedly in the frame for the role at Everton when Frank Lampard departed in January, and Leeds United are said to have been impressed by his man management and player recruitment since he took over in 2021 at Celtic Park.

But the man himself seems happy to be left in charge of the Hoops, declaring that he “couldn’t be happier.”

“When people say ‘the first offer they get will go somewhere else’ it’s not how I’m connected, it’s not how I think,” Postecoglou told The Scotsman newspaper.

The former Socceroos boss has recently been linked to roles at Everton and Leeds United, and Scottish soccer identity Steve Evans believes Postecoglou could one day manage Liverpool.

‘For me, what it’s about is trying to leave a mark wherever I am.

I’ve done that with every football club I’ve been to, that’s what consumes me.

‘I don’t think about the next step.

Postecoglou, out of touch next season with Celtic, is aware of the growing speculation surrounding his future.

“It’s not healthy to put your lights on and not know what’s going on,” he said.

‘If people are talking about my future or are interested in my future, I will sit and listen.

(But) that doesn’t mean I’m going to jump on anything that comes my way.

‘I’m passionate about what I do… I couldn’t be happier.’

In January, former Socceroo Robbie Slater said that if Postecoglou joined Everton, who remain in a relegation dogfight, it would be an act of “insanity” if he left Celtic.

The premiership winner with Blackburn Rovers labeled the Toffees a ‘club in crisis’ and urged Postecoglou to stay.

Veteran Scottish trainer Steve Evans is clearly a fan of ‘Aussie Ange’.

He declared that the former Socceroos boss is good enough in his eyes to one day be in charge of EPL giants Liverpool.
