Celine Dion breaks down in tears in a trailer for her new Amazon Prime documentary called I Am: Celine Dion
Fans rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to admit that the trailer made them cry
One fan shared that the documentary trailer ‘broke them to pieces’
Another fan said they were in ‘complete shock’ over Celine’s diagnosis and the current situation
Someone else commented: ‘I’m already crying. Queen, you deserve nothing but health, love and all praise. Stay strong Céline, we love you so much and we miss you so much,” while another user added, “Here I am crying for Celine Dion again. My love for this woman, for more than thirty years, knows no bounds.’
Another fan wrote: ‘Watching the trailer for one minute makes me unable to stop crying. Imagine watching the entire documentary (sic).”
In a shocking part of the trailer, a 911 call is heard against the backdrop of Las Vegas, where Celine performed an epic residency until June 2019.
It is not certain when or why the 911 call was made, but it was likely due to her struggle with Stiff Person Syndrome.
Stiff person syndrome (SPS), also called stiff man syndrome, is a rare neurological disorder that causes progressive muscle stiffness and spasms.
The spasms may be painful and come and go, and they may worsen over time. The stiffness usually affects the trunk muscles, but can also affect the arms and legs.
Celine was diagnosed with the degenerative disease in December 2022.
Towards the end of the trailer, the mother of three promises her fans that she will do whatever it takes to save her voice, which she describes as “the conductor of my life.”
“If your voice brings you joy, you are the best you can be,” says several clips of Celine recording and performing music over the years.
Referring to her live performances, she then says, “It’s not hard to do a show, you know.” It’s hard to cancel a show. I work hard every day, but I have to admit it has been a struggle. I miss it so much. The people… I miss them.”
The trailer ends with her saying, “When I can’t run, I walk. If I can’t walk, I crawl. But I won’t stop, she won’t stop.’
I Am: Celine Dion can be seen on Amazon Prime from June 25.
