Celeste Barber responds to Emily Ratajkowski’s reaction

Celeste Barber has addressed the backlash over her parody of Emily Ratajkowski’s thong-clad photo shoot, saying she doesn’t regret posting the video.

The 40-year-old comedian landed in trouble last year after the 31-year-old American model blocked her on Instagram to prevent further mocking of her content.

It wasn’t the first time Barber had received backlash for his treatment of female celebrities, but it was probably the most prominent example of someone opposing his work.

The funny Australian told this month’s magazine Marie Claire she didn’t care about criticism.

‘I like to run my mouth. I do it a lot. I’m witty, it’s one of my favorite things about me,” she told the magazine.

‘I don’t like that, I feel like I can’t do that as much, and yes, I feel like I censor myself sometimes. But other times I don’t give a damn and operate from a place I’m already canceled on.

I want to say good luck to them. You can’t win. They hate what you do one day, and the next day you’re the best thing in the world.

Barber drew criticism when he mocked a photo of Ratajkowski seductively leaning against a wall in nothing more than a pair of skimpy bikini bottoms.

We’re sick of you reifying our bodies! Also, here’s my butt,” he wrote in the caption, highlighting Ratajkowski’s outspoken feminism, as well as his habit of posting risqué content online.

Speaking later on Nova FM’s Fitzy and Wippa, Barber said the Gone Girl actress wasn’t too happy with her parody.

‘I don’t think Emily is a fan. She’s fine, she’s allowed not to love him. But she blocked me,” she said.

Barber insisted that he was “okay” with Ratajkowski not appreciating his work because many other high-profile celebrities were big fans.

‘If Cindy Crawford agrees with that, I agree. Thanks to the biggest supermodel in the world, people are allowed to dislike her,” she said.

At the time of Barber’s parody, followers had mixed opinions about her work, with some calling it hilarious and others accusing her of body-shaming.

“Misogyny is still misogyny even if you’re the one making fun of women,” one follower commented.

The mother-of-two rose to stardom in recent years with a series of hilarious viral videos poking fun at celebrities and influencers peddling fashion and wellness trends.
