“I am very excited about this project, the whole team is amazing,” Barber, 40, said in a statement.

“We’ve been working on it for a while and I’ve made an effort to tell everyone about it. I’m drawn to projects that focus on interesting, dynamic and complex female lead characters, and that’s exactly what Wellmania is.”

She continued: “I’m thrilled to be working with Netflix and telling this Australian story to an international audience, and also executive producing so I can command people.”

Taking to Instagram to share first-look images from the series, Barber predicted what fans will think of the show.

“You guys are going to LOVE this show, packed with an amazing cast created by amazing writers and put together by the best team ever,” she wrote in her caption.

The synopsis reads: “When food writer and turned-human Liv (Celeste Barber) suffers a serious health crisis, she is forced to rethink her ‘live fast, die young’ attitude.”

“After landing a once-in-a-lifetime job that will catapult her into the American mainstream, a series of unfortunate events in Australia results in her being barred from re-entering the United States unless she fixes her health.

“Throwing her body first on a wellness journey, she tries everything from the benign to the bizarre in an attempt to quickly recover and reclaim her old life.”

The series also stars JJ Fong, Genevieve Mooy, Lachlan Buchanan, Remy Hii, Alexander Hodge, Simone Kessell, Virginie Laverdure, and Johnny Carr.

Barber recently faced backlash from her dedicated fans for her Marie Claire Australia cover.

She appears in the fashion magazine’s ‘wellness issue’ in a cut-out red swimsuit by designer Melissa Odabash.

While some fans praised the glowing image, which Celeste shared to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday night, others were quick to condemn the ‘highly leaked’ image as ‘garbage’, taking to social media in droves to share their dismay.

Meanwhile, another fan took direct aim at Celeste, who built a multi-million dollar brand by mocking social media trends and body shaming.

‘Celeste talks about body shaming in editing, but the magazine has shamed her by over-editing. The reason she has over 9 million followers is because she is real not this trash,” wrote one fan.

“Shame on Marie Claire for Photoshopping what would have been a naturally beautiful photo of Celeste to begin with,” added one more.

“I really like Celeste but this is so leaked, I could barely recognize her… too bad as she’s naturally so pretty,” another complained.

However, the cover art was also praised by many of Celeste’s fans.

“Awesome,” wrote TV veteran Jessica Rowe along with three loving heart emojis.

While model Jess Hart preferred to keep her comment short and sweet, writing “Yes!”, along with a praying hands emoji.
